What are Struts?

Struts is a sound architectural model that performs well with a modest learning curve. Struts simplify JSP development through a strong set of tag libraries. It is an open-source framework that employs MVC architecture and extends Java Servlet APIs. Struts allow you to maintain and extend web-based applications based on technologies like JSP, Java Beans, XML, and resource bundles.

When a developer employs struts, the framework creates a controller Servlet called ActionServlet and is a register inside the web.xml deployment descriptor. It contains struts configuration files and libraries. Struts tags can be employed to maintain the data of the user with ActionFormBean and in JSP Pages.
