Apache Ant is a Java library and tool for command-line whose objective is to include processes described inside the build files as extension points and the targets that are dependent on each other. Apache Ant is mainly used in the creation of different types of applications. Ant compiles, assembles, tests and executes Java-based applications. Users can develop AntLibs containing Ant types and tasks.
Ant offers a large number of open source and commercial AntLibs. It is enormously flexible and does not impose directory layouts or coding conventions to the projects based on the Java language which adopts Ant as a tool.
